Re your letter 4380 of 10th April, 1904, I find that coming back from leave has greatly taxed my health, which is still far from being satisfactory. Having spent 4 years in Hong Kong, during my time there I carried out extra and exceptional work. Although I received an overwhelming recommendation while on leave at Calthagh, Downing Street, S.W., I feel very unwell and exhausted due to the climate.
I am not sufficiently recovered to be at concert pitch and I find that the work has not been sufficiently rewarding.
